Synopsis

Once Upon A Time in Africa is an animated educational show that takes its viewers on an exciting journey through African history before colonization. The show follows the adventures of four bright kids from the four corners of the continent (Chep from Kenya, Thandi from South Africa, Dudu from Senegal, and Omar from Egypt) as they travel back in time to fulfill a secret mission: revive the fading knowledge of Africa’s ancient past by experiencing the continents’ major historical events, colorful cultures and sophisticated civilizations. In this first episode the kids travel to the ancient city of Timbuktu.

Looking forward to screening the first episode of a new animated childrens series aimed at raising awareness of Africa’s precolonial history on 22nd of May at 6.30PM.

Meet the characters

Dudu from Senegal is a dreamer and a romantic, and often needs to be pulled back to reality. He loves reading - especially the dictionary - and sharing random historical facts.

Omar from Egypt is rebellious, boisterous, spontaneous, and a bit of a clown. He takes a lot of risks, which sometimes lead to discoveries...and sometimes land everyone in trouble.

From Cape Town, South Africa, Thandi can be a bit of a princess. But she is also creative and social, and has the best dance moves!

Chep is from Kenya. She’s smart and sporty – a runner of course. She is a natural leader, but she sometimes can be a bit bossy…
